What is the My St. Austell project?
The My St. Austell project is a partnership project between the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Cornwall Council, St. Austell BID and St. Austell Town Council.
The project seeks to see St. Austell through the eyes of our children and young people. To do this, we are inviting all local children to submit a contribution to the project inspired by their hometown of St. Austell.
How do we get involved?

What will my child do on the project?
Each child will create something, inspired by their own view of their hometown of St. Austell. This could be a painting or drawing, a photograph, a speech, a story, a dance piece, a monologue or a poem. The inspiration for the pieces can come from their favourite beach, their favourite walk, the way to school, a place that holds a memory, for example. We will be providing specific inspiration points for participants to work on.
Each participants’ creation will be created independently, with support from our teachers via online meetings, so participation in the project will not be affected should the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic change. This also means participants can partake in the project in their own time, so there’s no need to be regularly available on particular dates and times.
Progress on pieces will be supported by our teachers, via Zoom meetings and via our project Facebook group - join here
Where will the pieces be shown?
All the creations will be put into a My St. Austell book, which will be available to all to purchase as gifts and keepsakes.
Videos will feature on our social media and website.
There will also be a performance and exhibition of the works in St. Austell Town Centre. (timing and details subject to the ongoing COVID situation)
